Your blog provides a great way to build a personal relationship with customers and prospects — and to gather their email addresses. Consistently end blogs with a call to action that encourages readers to sign up for your email messages. For example, Survey Monkey is another must-have basic email list building tools you should try. Doing a target audience research need some new topics to cover or simply want to see how people perceive your product, service, or a brand? Use Survey Monkey to ask them, offering the results in exchange for their email address and voila! Got yourself an email list pretty quick!
When creating an offer, a landing page, subscription/sign up form, ask only for necessary information. People really don’t want to be bothered to fill in infinite spaces; in most cases, an email address and a name are more than enough. Ask for more info, and people won’t take time to fill it out, let alone leave their email. To successfully collect email addresses,  keep it short and straightforward.

I know the idea of creating a freebie can be stressful (see my post on creating the perfect freebie for more on this!), but it doesn’t have to be all about a freebie or lead magnet. Consider the kind of content you can offer on a weekly or monthly basis that will benefit your readers. Maybe that’s resources or info. Maybe that’s entertainment or encouragement. Don’t let your email come last! Your subscribers are your VIPS, remember? Give them your BEST.
Create entirely new content. Perhaps you’re using published blog posts, but your email autoresponder is missing a crucial lesson and you need to write brand new content so that the course achieves its goal. Maybe you’ve not even begun your blog yet, and are building your autoresponder first. Or, you just want to write the course from scratch from the ground up.
When you meet people face to face for any reason, ask for their business card. Offer yours.
